I HAVE to BE About the Father’s Business
For many of us, 2026 has started out as year that has rocked our boat—which means it’s been a little disconcerting—and we are only one month in! And maybe that rocking will help us see if we are in the RIGHT BOAT, where Jesus is leading us through darkness and troubled waters. He is guiding us towards His glorious light, where Holy Spirit’s gentle winds propel us to have faith for heaven to invade earth (see my recent painting below).
I got stuck on the shore of criticism and disappointment—what about you?
This week, I realized that my eyes were keeping me stuck on the shores of other’s opinions and voices, which seemed to paralyze me from getting into the boat of faith, which I normally and easily can do due to my times with God and the adventures I have had in the past, where I have seen God move powerfully.
It seemed unusually HARD for me to find my peace, so I called my dear friend Simon Bull who has known my heart for creatives and has an amazing gift to bring joy and beauty through his art on social media and in his galleries (see bullart.com).
I had what I call the “Simon Talk” and he helped me venture back into the boat with Jesus, so that I could go about the Father’s Business and what He has called me uniquely to be and to do.
My Sheep Know My Voice
“My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me." John 10:27
Here are some steps you can take in your own life that will help you as the “Simon Talk” helped me.
What is God Saying About You?
If someone is attacking you about something on social media or if a circumstance/close relationship is louder than God’s voice of assurance, know that this is an attack from the enemy (we wrestle not against flesh and blood – Eph. 6). Take time to cross reference what God says you are and get into the boat WITH Jesus and STOP listening to those other voices. Read scripture, prophetic words, and what those you love say about you—and stay the course.
God's Voice Doesn't Change:
Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8), which means His words and heart for you is not up for conjecture and that other people’s opinions of you have to bow to what He says.
Forgive and Don't Look Back:
Jesus forgave those on the cross because we had no idea how sin separates us from God’s Presence. If we hold on to forgiveness or bitterness, then the enemy wins. We are called to pray for those who persecute us and say hurtful things about us (Matt. 5:44).
It's Your Choice
When Simon talked to me and told me who I was I still had to make the choice to forgive, start to hear Jesus’ voice, and untie the ropes of small thinking to venture out into the waters of the Holy Spirit. I pray that you hear my voice, as I heard Simon’s voice and follow the voice of the good Shepherd.
Never Stop Sailing
I hope you are ready to get into the boat God has designed you to be and take Jesus with you to go and be about the Father’s Business. It’s the only way to live the adventurous life of the Kingdom.
Remember, you are born to prophesy so let’s get the fires lit!
