Are You Missing Something?

I was speaking in Portland one time and as I was taking my luggage up in a cart to my hotel room, when the doors closed suddenly and jarred my cart. This jolt sent my purse flying and emptied all of the contents of it on the elevator floor (or so I thought). I picked up everything, headed to my hotel room and after I got in, I was going to call my husband and tell him about my travels when I realized I didn’t have my phone.

Frantically, I recalled my steps as my friend had picked me up from the airport and dropped me off. I was certain I had the phone with me, then all of a sudden, this sinking feeling came into the pit of my stomach and I wondered if it had fallen down the elevator shaft when the door jarred my cart as I entered it.

I went to the elevator and realized the opening had a huge gap between the elevator doors and the floors. After sharing this with the woman who was picking me up to go to the church service that night, I shared my concern and asked her to shine her iphone light down the elevator shaft, but it was so far down, we couldn’t see anything, so I asked the hotel if they had a larger flashlight and could shine it down there—I know this is crazy—who asks for this, right?

Well, low and behold, they actually FOUND IT—although the glass was shattered, it worked! And another miracle happened when the couple who picked me up offered to get the phone restored for me. Within one day, I had it back!

I was so thankful to God because that phone held all my contacts, pictures, as you know—how could we ever make it without our phones!

What Are You Missing in Regards to Your Connection with Your Calling?
