WHO Is Your Security?

I am currently writing and illustrating a Children’s book, which you can now follow and watch on Theresadedmon.com.

It's under the resources tab, then press “Kids and Youth”. You can watch the power of “Theo the Bear” who represents God in the characters' lives and how He becomes their security (book called Ellie’s BIG Adventure).

In this painting I did, he is taking Ellie, her bunny Brie, and Charlie the charming mouse on an adventure where they can do things and see things they could never do on their own because they have found security in Theo’s fur and presence.

My Story on Security

If you met me, you would never think that I ever dealt with being shy, introverted, and socially awkward. I was raised to fear authority because I was punished for my actions and sharing my feelings. The only way I could deal with that is gaining my security from being good at sports, academics, painting, and trying to please God.

I needed Theo to come and rescue me! I kept wondering why I felt so insecure in new situations or why I felt so scared when I messed up or didn’t get done what I felt I needed to get done.

Can anyone relate?

Then, through books, encounters with God, and many men and women around me walking in their true identity, I began to see that there was a better way. I wanted freedom. I just didn’t know how to get it in my being -yet.

I began to take off the old tattered clothes of perfectionism and striving that had hid my vulnerable parts and I began to let Father God love me first. Then I had to BELIEVE I was WORTH being loved. I began to find a loving community that accepted me.

This is why my creativity is not based upon other’s approval, although I welcome healthy criticism and feedback to grow. Rather my security is in how Father God sees me and how He calls me to see myself. We can’t love others unless we have learned to love ourselves first!

If one encounter of God’s love started me on the journey of finding TRUE security in Papa God, what could happen if you gave Him a whole day to awaken YOU and take you on an adventure with Theo the Bear?

Remember, you are born to create and change the world!
