Healing The Wounds We Carry

Have you ever felt like your life circumstances or emotional pain has left you cracked and broken inside?

Maybe it's a relationship that didn't turn out the way you hoped. Maybe it's disappointment, grief, anxiety, physical challenges, sickness, a creative dream that didn’t work out, or simply getting weary in the waiting period before you see breakthrough.

The truth is, we all get cracked along the way.

But what if God isn't intimidated by your broken places? What if He wants to give you encouragement that He has a greater plan that what you can see?

What if the very places that have hurt you the most could become the places where His healing shines the brightest?

Sometimes, the brush speaks what the heart feels. In this painting, I was longing to see Southern California’s Revival Fires be restored when we moved down there 5 years ago. Yet, I didn’t realize how much I would miss my family and grandchildren, who lived in Redding.

We had moved down toSouthern California based upon a Prophetic word we’d been given that hadn’t yet happened. We waited and built with other churches—yet, I felt discouraged—had we missed it?

What was happening?

Yet, while we were down there for two years, I continued to work with my Online Kingdom Creative Movement, which started during COVID. I was seeing success online, but not as much in what was happening in person.

So, after two years down south, we moved back to Redding. We took our unfulfilled dreams and moved to a house, where we are now a block away from our family!

What we thought was over is only the start of what God envisioned for us when we received that word about a move of God in Southern California.

How?

I now realize that God wanted us to touch not only Southern California, but the world through our online connections. The fulfillment of that prophetic word was happening through the Kingdom Creative Movement, not only happening in Southern California, but around the world.

God’s plans always turn out greater than we can ever imagine (Eph.3:20).

There is a beautiful Japanese art form called Kintsugi, where broken pottery is repaired with gold. Instead of hiding the cracks, the artist highlights them. The vessel becomes even more valuable because of its restoration story.

That reminds me of how God has worked in my life and is in working in yours.

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." — Psalm 147:3

God doesn't discard broken people. He restores them. He fills the cracks with His Presence, His love, and His healing power. What once felt like a weakness becomes a testimony of His faithfulness. What once was a failure becomes a “God story.”

And sometimes healing comes in unexpected ways.

I remember one of my KCM students, Mia who ministered in the hospital to a man lying down and painted a simple sailboat which looked like a Pre-school drawing and showed it to him, relating to him that God was with him and wanted to heal him (see photo below).

This man thought that the hospital staff had talked to them about who he was, but she assured him that they had never had a conversation.

He went on to tell her that he was a fisherman and didn’t believe in God when his Father died suddenly, who was a believer. Mia told him that even though he didn’t believe in God- God believed in him and then she declared healing over his body.

The next week, Mia was visiting patients and he called her into the room, where this same man showed her the picture she had drawn, which was taped up on the wall.

He said that after she had left he gave his heart back to God and he felt God’s Presence healing him physically. He was leaving the hospital a changed man, but he wanted to thank her before he left.

From that simple drawing, Mia grew as a prophetic art (see eagle painting next to the boat) and travels around the world bringing healing to others through prophetic art ministry.

That moment when Mia gave away her simple boat drawing changed everything.

God isn't looking for perfection. He's looking for risk and partnership.

Take These Three Simple Steps If You Need God's Healing:

1. Bring Your Broken Pieces to God

Before healing can begin, we have to stop hiding our pain.

"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." — 1 Peter 5:7

You may need to forgive someone as that man in the hospital had to do. Start to process your pain through journaling, painting, music, writing, photography, dance, or another creative outlet, invite God into the places that need healing. Let creativity become a pathway of healing your brokenness.

2. Allow God to Fill the Cracks with His Gold

Just as Kintsugi uses gold to restore broken pottery, God uses His truth, love, and presence to restore wounded hearts.

"He gives beauty for ashes." — Isaiah 61:3

As you create, ask the Holy Spirit: "What truth do You want me to know about this situation and about your power to heal?" Let His perspective replace fear, shame, disappointment, or hopelessness.

3. Share Your Restoration Story

Your healed places become healing for others.

"We comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." — 2 Corinthians 1:4

When God restores you, your testimony becomes a gift. The very area that once caused pain can become a source of encouragement and hope for someone else.
