Power of Dreaming With God

I believe all of us carry a unique calling that is connected to God’s dream for all mankind. We know that Jesus came to show us the Father and to reveal His Kingdom, and I believe that’s just the start of God’s dream for us. I believe that our “yes” toward surrendering our lives to God leads us to the eternal Kingdom, where impossibilities bow at the feet of Jesus and it is where we begin our identity journey as His child.

For instance, God designs our personalities, calling, gifts, passions, and anointings to reveal a facet of God’s nature that no one else carries. We are a walking and breathing miracle of Christ IN us with a specific and unique mission to fulfill. Genesis 1:27 says that we are made in His Image and Psalm 139 declares that we are woven in our mother’s womb uniquely by the Trinity. Wow! That in itself is enough to convince us of how vast His dream for us really is.

I believe God invites us to dream WITH Him. God-given dreams are not about self-promotion; they are invitations into partnership with God. When we learn to dream with Him, we begin to see ourselves, our future, and our influence through His eyes.

God's Dreams Begin With His Heart, Not Our Limitations

Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

We all know the story of Moses’ escape out of Egypt because he killed an Egyptian who was beating a Hebrew. He tried in his own strength to make things right. Afraid of being caught, he ran until God came to him through a burning bush experience and asked him to be Israel’s deliverer.

Then, Moses told God that He had the wrong man. Why? He stuttered. He was STILL relying on his own abilities, but God ignored him and told him that “I AM” would go with him. Moses’ dream did not include God’s power, but rather it centered on his own weaknesses and fear of never being good enough.

I know this speaks to many of us as well.

God’s dreams mean His supernatural power and Presence IS the deciding factor for victory.

In my life, I have felt insecure, in regards to my ability to think on my feet and be a powerful speaker. I remember as a child, feeling embarrassed and shy because I felt afraid to speak.

Why? I learned to take my cues from my Father and teachers who would put me down when I tried to speak and assert my own opinion.

Can anyone else relate?

Later on, when I was in college, I was a straight A student, yet underneath all that learning, I still felt I wasn’t good enough.

After college, I was asked to come on staff at a large church where I would be leading groups, speaking, and pastoring others. I thought, “Who me?” “God I can’t do it!” Then, God said to me that because I NEEDED His help, I was perfect for this position because I wouldn’t rely on my own strength. Wow! That gave me the perspective I needed.

So, as you listen to my story and the recount of Moses’ journey, I want to encourage you to break out of limiting beliefs today and embrace the dream God has for you!

Action Steps:

Write down dreams God has placed in your heart.
Identify limiting beliefs that oppose those dreams.
Ask God, “How do You see this dream?”

Kevin, my husband and I were speaking at a church last Sunday and I painted Jesus calling us out on the waves of faith with Him. And what I loved is that Avon, whom you see here who was one of my first students in our Kingdom Creative Movement in 2020, painted alongside me! The dreams God has given you are clues to His heart, His purpose, and His invitation to partner with Him.

This week, spend time asking God:
“What are You dreaming over my life that I have not yet fully seen?”

Then write down what He shows you and take one courageous step toward it.
